Transparent budget and measurement plan

Whole Earth Curriculum will publish costs against concrete outcomes rather than announce a polished total before the work is measured. This document is the public baseline. It will be updated when funding is received or paid work begins.

What every funded outcome will show

  • The deliverable and who it is meant to serve.
  • The estimate, currency, rates, hours, quantities, and assumptions behind it.
  • Funding received, spending by category, remaining balance, and material in-kind support.
  • The evidence produced, limitations found, revisions made, and publication status.
  • Any variance from the estimate and what caused it.

No donor or partner receives private ownership of the curriculum. Curriculum remains CC BY-SA 4.0 and tooling remains MIT licensed.

Initial cost models

Outcome Estimate model Evidence published
Human review Lessons × review hours per lesson × reviewer rate Discipline, time, findings, revisions, and sign-off status
Classroom pilot Educator support or stipend + coordination + analysis Setting, lessons used, preparation time, barriers, feedback, and resulting changes
Translation and localization Source words × translation rate + cultural and subject review Language, locale, word count, reviewers, revisions, and publication status
Print, offline, and web delivery Scoped implementation hours + production and service costs Deliverables, accessibility checks, format, reach, and recurring costs
Coordination and administration Named hours or an explicit percentage Work performed, spending by category, balance, and variance

Outcomes before claims

The repository currently demonstrates scope, traceability, automated validation, and public access. It does not yet demonstrate classroom effectiveness, adoption, or a stable per-learner cost. The first pilot cohort and independent reviews are intended to establish those baselines. Reports will describe the settings and limitations so results are not generalized beyond the evidence.

Publication cadence

Before funded work starts, WEC will publish its estimate and assumptions. During active work, material scope or budget changes will be recorded. At completion, WEC will publish actual spending and the resulting deliverables or findings. Personal contact information and confidential partner information will not be published.

Until the first funded outcome begins, the honest public total is: no outcome budget has been established and no project funding is represented here as received.
