Unit 12 — All of Me, All of Us

Overview

This unit gathers the year together, building on Grade 5’s closing celebration. Learners reflect on how their identity is made of many parts that can shift by context — family, culture, language, interests, and beliefs — set a short-term goal and reflect on what worked, and name the strategies they will carry for handling stress, distraction, and peer pressure while staying true to their values. They describe how identity — culture, language, and ability — shapes belonging, compare cooperation and competition and when each helps or harms a group, and explain, in age-appropriate terms, why some people have more than they need while others lack. They celebrate each whole person, the caring community they have built, and the living Earth — and look ahead to Grade 7, where proportional relationships, source evaluation, and empathy across distance will carry the same questions further.

Essential questions

  • Who am I, with my many shifting parts, and who am I becoming?
  • How do I belong, care, and act for the common good — and carry it into Grade 7?
