Unit 8 — Healthy, Safe & Strong

Overview

This unit returns to the body with growing independence, building on Grade 2’s balanced meals, water, and trusted adults. Learners describe what a body needs to stay healthy — food, water, sleep, and movement — and why each matters; identify where common foods come from, such as plants, animals, farms, and gardens, and how they reach a table; demonstrate a basic first-aid response for common minor injuries, such as telling an adult about a cut, scrape, or bruise; and describe safe and unsafe touch and the correct names for private body parts, practicing saying no and telling an adult. The body is taught with dignity, never shame, and the wide range of bodies and ways of eating is honored.

Essential questions

  • What does my body need to stay healthy, and where does my food come from?
  • How do I keep myself safe and speak up when something is not safe?
