Unit 1 — My Feelings, My Story
Overview
This unit opens the year inward. Building on Kindergarten’s naming of happy, sad, angry, and scared, learners grow a richer feeling-vocabulary (proud, lonely, excited) and practice connecting a feeling to what caused it. They tell the story of who they are — age, likes, abilities, family, and one thing they are proud of — and meet a family story or tradition, honoring every family’s shape. They practice one calming strategy and learn to wait and stop, with gentle support, as the first steps of self-regulation.
Essential questions
- How do I know what I am feeling, and how do I tell someone?
- What makes me, me — and what story do I carry?
