Unit 8 — Healthy, Safe & Strong

Overview

Returning to the body with growing independence, this unit turns from senses and movement to health and safety. Learners name a variety of foods from different groups and understand that food gives the body energy to grow, play, and learn; perform daily self-care routines with growing independence; and learn that their body belongs to them, and to tell a trusted adult if someone makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Health is taught without shame, honoring the wide range of ways families eat and live.

Essential questions

  • What keeps my body healthy and strong?
  • How do I keep myself safe and ask for help when I need it?
