Overview
This unit deepens fairness and civic life, building on Grade 2’s telling right from wrong and understanding that same treatment is not always fair. Learners give reasons for and against a simple choice and say what they would do and why; explain why the same act can be good in one situation and not in another; tell the difference between a need and a want and why meeting needs fairly matters; identify a situation where someone was left out or treated unequally and describe how to make it more fair; explain how rules keep a group safe and fair and propose a rule for a shared space with a reason; explain what it means to have a voice in a group and what can happen when someone’s voice is not heard; use a simple step-by-step way to calm down and talk through a conflict without hurting anyone; and explain what it means to repair harm rather than only punish.
