Unit 2 — My Body, My Home

Overview

This unit helps Kindergarten learners meet their own bodies as a home to know and care for. Through the five senses, big and small movement, sorting everyday foods, and simple self-care routines, children learn that their bodies send signals — hunger, tiredness, excitement, calm — and that caring for a body is a daily act of kindness toward oneself. It is taught with dignity and joy, never shame, and honors the wide range of bodies and abilities humans have.

Essential questions

  • What can my body do, and how does it tell me what it needs?
  • How do I care for this body that is my home?
