Unit 3 — Learning to Live Together

Overview

This unit lives out what My Feelings, My Story began: now that learners can name their own feelings, they practice living well with others. They use kind words, listen without interrupting, read a classmate’s feelings from face, voice, and body, and guess what another person might need. They name the communities they belong to and how each one works together, and they practice care — offering help without being asked and looking after shared materials. Relationship is taught as a set of skills to practice, in a spirit of mutual aid rather than competition.

Essential questions

  • How do we speak, listen, and help one another well?
  • What communities do I belong to, and how do I help care for them?
