Unit 3 — Caring, Perspective & Belonging
Overview
This unit turns outward into the practice of care, building on Grade 2’s giving encouragement, resolving disagreements with words, and cooperating on a shared task. Learners now take turns speaking in a group discussion and build on what a classmate said, use “I” statements to say how they feel without blaming during a conflict, retell a story from another character’s point of view, imagine and describe what it is like to be someone else in a familiar place, compare their own community with a community in a different place or culture, explain how rules and routines help a community work fairly for everyone, practice contributing fairly to a group goal, and give examples of how people in a community help one another. Care is taught as mutual aid, not competition.
