Overview
This unit closes the outward year by gathering everything together, building on Grade 5’s everyday technology, claim-checking, food webs, and stewardship. Learners explain that technologies are designed by people with particular needs, wants, and values, and analyze who gets to use a technology and who does not, and why that matters for fairness. They distinguish between news, opinion, and advertisement and identify clues for each, and identify a persuasive technique, such as a loaded word or an emotional image, and explain how it tries to shape a view.
