Unit 1 — My Feelings & My Strengths
Overview
This unit opens the year inward, building on Grade 1’s feeling-vocabulary and Kindergarten’s naming of happy, sad, angry, and scared. Learners tell similar feelings apart (mad from frustrated, sad from disappointed), notice where a feeling shows up in the body (tense shoulders, a fast heartbeat), name their personal strengths and one thing they are still learning, describe how they are alike and different from others and why both matter, and practice two calming strategies and pausing before reacting. Every family’s shape and every child’s pace are honored.
Essential questions
- How do I tell similar feelings apart, and where do they live in my body?
- What are my strengths, and what am I still learning?
