A written lifelong body–mind framework that the learner can explain to others; an across-a-lifetime embodied-health reflection on sustaining one's own and others' dignity through aging and change; a lifelong, adaptable movement plan; and an environment-and-movement-access proposal that names a concrete change widening access, gathered as capstone portfolio artifacts.

Unit 2 — Body, Wellness & Lifelong Movement

Overview

This unit reads the body as the somatic ground of thought and feeling, now integrated into a lifelong framework and understood as a shared public concern. Learners integrate the body–mind connection into a personal framework for lifelong awareness and wellbeing and explain it to others, and articulate how to sustain their own and others’ embodied health and dignity across a lifetime, including aging and change. They integrate movement into a lifelong, adaptable plan that supports physical, mental, and social health, and explain how environments — cities, workplaces, natural spaces — shape people’s ability to move and propose changes that widen access. The body is taught with dignity and joy, honoring the wide range of bodies and abilities and the whole arc of a life.

Essential questions

  • How do I sustain my own and others’ embodied health and dignity across a lifetime, including aging and change?
  • How do I integrate movement into a lifelong, adaptable plan, and how do environments shape — and widen or narrow — people’s ability to move?
