Unit 4 — We Are Friends

Overview

This unit lives out what Who Am I? began: now that learners can notice their own feelings, they practice living well with others. Through turn-taking, sharing, reading a friend’s feelings, naming the communities they belong to, and helping care for shared spaces, children learn that relationship is a set of skills to practice, not rules to obey — in a spirit of mutual aid rather than competition.

Essential questions

  • How do we live well together — sharing, taking turns, and helping?
  • What is a community, and how do we belong to one?
